What is a podcast?

A podcast is a series of digital-media files which are distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and computers.

The term podcast, like broadcast, can refer either to the series of content itself or to the method by which it is syndicated; the latter is also called podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. The term is a portmanteau of the words "iPod" and "broadcast".

Podcasting is becoming increasingly popular in education. Podcasts enable people to download the podcast of a recorded lesson or piece of information to listen to at their leisure in their own time.

How do I get podcasts?

If you can download something from the internet, you have got all the skills you need to start accessing podcasts. Podcast listeners can listen in one of three ways: through an MP3 player, on a computer using media player software, or with VoIP technology by calling to a virtual phone number.
