OK, you have slaved away in the gym to look your best on your family vacation. Do you want to ruin all your hard work? You want to maintain your fitness, not come home with a muffin top! Staying fit on your family holiday can be easy. Here are some easy holiday workout tips.
* Make sure you pack your workout wear!
* Every bit of holiday exercise counts. If you can walk instead of catching a bus or driving, do so.
* Have your travel consultant choose accommodation with fitness equipment.
* Wake up an hour before the rest of the family and go for a brisk walk to burn off last night's dinner. You will also be speeding up your metabolism for the day, and releasing those feel good endorphins. Walking as part of your holiday workout is an effective fat burner and muscle toner.
* Involve the whole family. Keeping fit on family holidays needn't be a solitary exercise. Take the kids to a park or beach and throw the frisbee. Have running races. Holidays with kids can involve plenty of calorie burning games.
* Hire bikes for the day for the whole family to investigate the local area. This is a great workout routine for your thighs and butt and will help in your fight against your kids getting fat.
* Working out while on holidays can be fun. Hire roller blades for a fun session of exercising those thighs and butt.
* Maintain your fitness by having the whole family go for an after dinner walk. Your children will be more than ready for bed by the time you return.
* If your family friendly accommodation has a pool, use it! Swim a few laps first thing in the morning when no one else is using it. Alternatively do some resistance training by walking up and down the pool instead of swimming.
* If you are really struggling to fit in your workout routine, why not have hubby supervise bath time or pre dinner time? Use this hour to hit the fitness equipment. At this time of the day, the fitness centre will probably be relatively empty.
* If your family vacation destination does not have a fitness centre why not bring one of your own workout routine DVDs from home? You can do your holiday workout while everyone else is snoozing.
* If your children are small, take the jogging stroller with you. Strap them in and off you go!
* If your children are older, pack their skateboards or roller skates or blades so they can accompany you on your brisk walk or run.
* Carrying multiple shopping bags is great for toning your arms!
* Be flexible with your holiday workout routine.
Remember, every little bit counts!
You may not have access to fitness equipment while on your family vacation but you can still maintain your fitness. Keeping fit on holidays is achievable. Fitness and family travel can go hand in hand. Make it fun and involve your children for a true win-win situation!
